Let us introduce ourselves!
Our mission is to continue the tradition of Appalachian dance by promoting clogging in Central Virginia. We do this in a family friendly atmosphere that is welcoming and affordable and open to all ages and abilities.
Quick Bit of News
Due to heating issues, practices have been temproarilly moved to a new location in the town of Orange. It is located on Church Street, across from the Train Station and W.A. Sherman. Feel free to click on the "Approximate Location" link on the calendar page underneath upcoming practice dates or, as always, call Allen or Frank for directions and more information.
The Orange Cloggers is a non-profit group. The group was founded in 1980 by several Orange County residents, hence the name Orange Cloggers! For almost 30 years, the group has grown to include several members that live not only in Orange County but several surrounding counties as well. Staying true to our mission statement, we are spreading the word about clogging and how much fun it is!
The cloggers practice on Monday nights in Orange, Virginia at the Isaiah House starting at 6:30. We have also have our Young at Heart classes on Thursday nights from 8:00 - 9:00.
The Orange Cloggers have four age divisions. Performances consist of alternating dances performed by each age division for approximately one hour. If your event requires alternate time schedules, please request this at the time of booking.
Age Divisions
The Peewees division range in age from 3 to 6 years old. This division concentrates on finding the beat in the music and following instructor direction. Peewees learn to interact with other dancers but do not follow a set routine. They eventually learn the basic, traditional clogging step.
Peewees practice on Monday nights in Orange from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Juniors are ages 7 to 12. The Junior division concentrates more on learning a routine and matching it to the beat of the music as they continue to interact with others. Juniors master the basic step and build up to intermediate steps.
Juniors practice on Monday nights in Orange from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The Senior division masters the intermediate steps and progress into advanced steps. They concentrate on precision line dancing and also interact during "Hoedown" routines. This age division is 13 to 35.
The Seniors practice on Monday nights in Orange from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Betweens are our newest age group. It is for those of us who, while able to do most of the more advanced steps, (reluctantly willing to admit) may have trouble keeping up with the speed and endurance of the Senior age group. Age division is for those approximately 35 to 50.
Betweens will be practicing on Thursday nights from 7-8.
We also have a Young at Heart division that is for those who love the fun of clogging but don't feel comfortable with doing the more advanced steps. The age division for the Young at Heart's is approximately 50 and up.
The Young at Hearts practice Thursday nights from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Beginner classes have begun again. From the very young to the young at heart, everyone enjoys learning how to clog!
Beginner practices are on Thursday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
